The New York State (NYS) ELA and Math Exams are given each spring to students in grades 3–8. These tests measure how well students are meeting grade-level standards in reading, writing, and math, while also preparing them for future exams like the SHSAT, Regents, and SAT. They are an important way to track academic progress and build key skills such as careful reading, problem-solving, and time management.
At Ace Academy, we focus on both skill and strategy. Students strengthen their foundations in reading comprehension, writing, and math while also practicing proven test-taking techniques like annotation, pacing, and identifying key details. With regular practice in real test formats, our students build confidence, reduce stress, and develop the academic habits needed for long-term success.

Our curriculum is expertly tailored, only experienced educators (no highschoolers) are hired, and our student-teacher ratios are kept small.
We know every student’s grows and glows. This allows us to set the curriculum to the class’s needs with no students feeling the pacing is too slow or too fast.
We do not hire high school or college students to be our lead teachers. Although there may be many bright students, only an experienced teacher can lead a successful class.
We maintain our classroom’s teacher to student ratio no higher than 1:8. We achieve this by hiring teaching assistants to help with classroom management and
We believe that a personalized education plan is key to a student’s success. With that said, a small student to teacher ratio is crucial to that belief. As a result, all our classes are capped at 8 students/class.
Every student enrolled receives personalized written or oral feedback after each session. These feedbacks will include the student’s general progress in the class, goals and achievement, and recent practice test results with analysis.
While we strongly advocate students to attend every class and practice tests, we understand that things happen. Depending on the student’s class format or session type, we may be able to help.
With a 48 hours heads up, we may be able to offer students enrolled in live private classes:
a seat in a different in-person class (subject to availability)
a seat in a live, online class (subject to availability)
a video recording of an online class session
We do offer private 1 on 1 tutoring as make up classes (additional tuition applies).
Please note that there will be no refunds or credits offered for missed class sessions.
We have a very generous tutoring referral policy. Please refer to our policies page for more information.
